Director, Prof. Liguang WUProf. Liguang Wu, Ph.D. supervisor, director of Pacific Typhoon Research Center (PTRC), associate dean of College of Atmospheric Science at Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST). He was the first group of specially-appointed professors of the Jiangsu province government. He serves as a member of typhoon committee of Chinese Meteorological Association, the editorial boards of Advances in Atmospheric Sciences and Journal of Meteorological Research, Meteorological Science of Jiangsu Meteorological Society.

Prof. Wu graduated from the department of meteorology of Nanjing University in 1984 and obtained his master degree from National Marine Environmental Forecast Center of State Oceanographical Administration (SOA) in 1990 and Ph.D. in meteorology from University of Hawaii in 1999. He was a weather forecaster during 1984-1987 and 1990-1994 in Natioanl Marine Environmental Forecast Center. He worked during the period 2000-2008 at GSFC/NASA and University of Maryland at Batimore County on the application of satellite data and tropical cyclones. He joined Nanjing Unversity of Information Science and Technology in late 2008. Currently his research interests including tropical cyclone formation, motion and structure and intensity, as well as the possible impacts of global warming on tropical cyclones. He proposed the PVT diagnostic approach for tropical cyclone motion in 2000, studied the influence of global warming on typhoon tracks since 2004, and the modulation of the Tropical Upper Tropsheric Trough (TUTT) on the genesis area in 2015. He also studied the influences of the Sahara Air Layer (SAL) and the Three-Gorge Dam through numerical modeling and observational analysis.
